Pet Friendly Things to Do in Savannah’s Historic District

The Weiner Dog Race is part of the activities of Savannah’s Oktoberfest
Entry fee for the race — $25 per dog
In addition, there will be prizes for best-dressed dog and a best-dressed dog owner.

2. Forsyth Park

Dogs are welcome to run and play at Forsyth Park. Located at the southern end of the historic district, it is the largest park in the city and offers lots of shade and a huge fountain that was built in 1858.

3. River Street

River Street is a cobblestone street that runs along the Savannah River and is lined with old buildings that used to be cotton warehouses. You can watch paddle-driven riverboats and ships on the river and visit pet-friendly shops and restaurants in the area. Don’t miss the Riverstreet Marketplace, an open-air market dating back to the 1800s that is filled with items from all over the world.

Old Savannah Tours is a trolley tour that allows opportunities to get off the trolley and explore. They allow small dogs.

5. Broughton Street

On Broughton Street, there are many restaurants with outdoor seating where you and your dog can enjoy a treat. Many provide a water bowl for your dog. There also are shops and boutiques to explore if you have someone to watch your dog while you are shopping.

6. Inn on West Liberty

At the Inn on West Liberty in Savannah’s historic district, you can bring along your pet under 25 pounds to enjoy a vacation with you at a bed and breakfast. There are convenient places to take your pet for a walk here while you can take advantage of admiring the beautiful scenery. It’s a win-win situation for you and your beloved pet!
