Your Guide to the 2019 Wimberley Arts Fest

A Brief History of the Festival

After being in the Wimberley Square in town for a few years, the arts festival grew too big and moved to Blue Hole Regional Park. Again, the event outgrew its space. In 2017 the Wimberley Arts Fest moved to a resort on the Blanco River. This expanded the space by 50%. Now the festival has plenty of room for more artists, musicians, shaded fields, and lots of parking.

Where and When You Can Visit the Arts Fest

Come visit the small town of Wimberley, Texas, less than an hour outside of Austin. The event will take place on Saturday, April 27th from 10 AM to 6 PM and Sunday, April 28th from 11 AM to 5 PM. Admission to the festival is free! Attendees will enjoy two full days of live music, 100 booths full of art, and food trucks. The grounds are full of pecan trees and a view over the river. There are tables for sitting down and enjoying a drink from the beer and wine booths while you enjoy the view. Dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash.

Where to Park

Parking at the event is $10, but free parking can be found elsewhere away from the grounds. Parking on the grounds will be convenient. Those who park on the grounds will be picked up by friendly golf carts and delivered into the main festival grounds.

For more about where to park and the layout of the event, check out the official map of the event.

Over 100 Artists

There are 106 artists scheduled for the Wimberley Arts Fest in 2019. The artists have all been carefully selected and invited. The festival organizers made sure there was a wide variety of types of media and styles so there should be something for everyone. Among the art you can expect to find are paintings, jewelry, ceramics, digital art, woodwork, mixed media work, photography, and glasswork. Many of the artists are visiting from neighboring states, but at least 25% of the work shown is by local artists.

Listen to Live Music All Day

Both Saturday and Sunday’s schedules are full of live music. You can sit down at a picnic table with a drink to enjoy the show, or listen as you browse the artists’ booths. Some of the bands in the 2019 lineup include 3 Hands High (traditional cowboy music, bluegrass, and more), Young & Rusty (Folk and Americana duo from Austin), and Hot Texas Swing Band (Hard-drivin’ Western Swing from Austin).

Visit the 2019 Car Show

On Saturday, April 27th there will also be a Wimberley Car Show. The entrance fee is five dollars, but the show is free for Arts Fest Attendees!

Where to Stay

After spending most of the day exploring the Wimberley Arts Fest, you will need somewhere to stay at night. While there are many different lodging options in the area, we recommend staying at Cypress Creek Cottages. These cottages are unique and give guests the comfort of staying in their own home while staying in Texas Hill Country.
