5 Upcoming Horror Movies You Need To See

Even though 2017 isn’t over yet, it has been a great year for horror movies. It’s about to get even better with release dates set for the remainder of 2017. I know we’re all excited for Insidious 4 coming to theaters January 2018. Before we start thinking about whether or not 2018 will top 2017’s horror movies, here are the best ones to catch for the remainder of 2017.

Annabelle: Creation

While it’s not exactly upcoming, we had to include this one because it just came out on August 11. If you haven’t seen it already, this movie is truly terrifying. The Annabelle movies are a spin-off of the Conjuring movies based on the careers of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. The haunted Annabelle doll was one of their most famous cases. Annabelle: Creation is all about how the creepy doll got her start in her career of being possessed. The movie starts with the story of the original owner who then torments a group of orphan girls who move into her house. Possible spoiler: You really won’t want to miss the end as it ties together everything that happens in the first movie.

Coming to scare the pants off you on September 8, It is based on the best-selling Stephen King novel of the same name. In 1990, a TV miniseries based on the same story was made and while it had good reviews at the time, it’s time for an even scarier revival. The movie is set in the small town of Derry where kids are disappearing and body parts are turning up. A group of teens called the “Losers Club” join together to fight against the evil entity taking shape of Pennywise the clown that they think is responsible for the disappearances.

Mother!

Starring Jennifer Lawrence, this movie is about a wife and her husband living in the quiet country whose lives are suddenly disrupted by a strange couple who comes to stay in their home. This thrilling movie is from the same director as Requiem for a Dream and Black Swan. The surrounding mystery of the film is what makes it intriguing. The trailer itself is both vague and thrilling, but we are getting some Rosemary’s Baby vibes. The film is set to release on September 15.

The movie begins with a college student waking up on her birthday and is murdered after her birthday party that same night. After her murder, she wakes up again on the same day reliving the same events over again. The story is about her reliving her death day over again and changing the events with the hope of finding out who her killer is. Happy Death Day is set to release on Friday, October 13.
