Kelly Ripa’s Upcoming Guest Co-hosts

Friday officially marked Michael Strahan’s last day on Live with Kelly and Michael. Strahan’s departure has caused a lot of drama, including his end date, but the show must go on. With Strahan gone, the show is focused on finding the right host to fill his shoes. They have a variety of guest hosts filling in and the show’s hope is to be able to have a new host selected prior to the summer hiatus, which means they better get searching. Here are a few of the guest hosts filling in in the near future:

Kelly & JimmyJimmy Kimmel — May 16th

Jimmy Kimmel is first guest co-host for Kelly. Kimmel has a very successful late night talk show so he should do great filling in. He will likely bring a lot of jokes to the set and is a great guest co-host to kick things off. Due to the success of his own show, it is very unlikely that he will be in the running to fill Strahan’s chair.

Jussie Smollett – May 17th

Jussie Smollett will co-host with Kelly on Tuesday. He currently plays Jamal Lyon on the hit TV show Empire. Smollett is also known for his roles in The Mighty Ducks, North, On Our Own, and The Skinny. He does not have any hosting experience, but starting out in the entertainment industry at a young age has likely prepared him for the role.

Cedric the Entertainer – May 18th

Kelly’s Wednesday co-host is Cedric the Entertainer. He has been in the industry for decades and has a long list of accomplishments to show for it. From writer to producer to actor, he has done it all. Cedric the Entertainer is just that, an entertainer, making him an excellent co-host. His appearance will likely have the crowd laughing the whole time.

David Muir – May 19th

The ABC World News Tonight with David Muir host will be live with Kelly on Thursday. Muir has been an anchor since 1995 so he has a lot of experience. The only question is will he be able to loosed up for the morning time slot, which is unlike the seriousness of nighttime news. Muir won’t likely be considered for the open position since he has his own show.

Daniel Dae Kim – May 20th

Rounding out the week as co-host is Daniel Dae Kim. He is best known for his role on Lost which ran from 2010 to 2016 and is currently on Hawaii Five-0. Kim has also been in a lot of hit movies including Spider-Man 2, Crash, and the Divergent Series movies Insurgent and Allegiant. Kim has a lot of potential to be a great co-host with his acting experience, but we will have to wait and see!

Fred Savage — May 23rd & 24th

Kelly & FredFred Savage starts out the second week of guest co-hosts. He recently filled in for Strahan around the holidays. While doing the host chat, Savage admitted that he was nervous prior to going on the show, but he was a natural and the two had great chemistry. Savage, who was on the popular show The Wonder Years previously is currently on The Grinder. The show was not renewed for a second season so Savage could potentially be Kelly’s new co-host.

Seal — May 25th

Seal splits up the week as Kelly’s co-host on Wednesday. Seal has a long list of accomplishments in the music industry. Since music is his main interest, his co-hosting abilities are questionable. Once again, being in the industry for an extended period of time often prepares people for the co-host role so he should do well.

Andy Cohen — May 26th & 27th

Andy Cohen will end the second week by hosting the Thursday and Friday show. Cohen is one of Kelly’s good friends. He was one of the first names thrown around to replace Strahan. Cohen has opening said that he will not join Kelly as the official co-host of the show, even though many have been pulling for him. The two will have a lot of great banter since they are such great friends and it will likely be two great episodes to finish out the second week of guest co-hosts.

Kelly has a lot of great men joining her on the show over the next two weeks. Very few of them seem to be in the running to fill the empty co-host chair though. Who would you like to see as Kelly’s new host?
