2016 Billboard Music Awards Summer Fashion Trends

One of the best things about awards shows is the live red carpet event that comes before it. Viewers get to get an inside scoop on select celebrities, see which celebrities are attending the awards show, and to look at the glam looks and gorgeous gowns. It is interesting to think that celebrities are wearing top couture fashion trends to award shows, but those trends can be found in local stores. Here are some hot summer trends that have been spotted on the red carpet of the 2016 Billboard Music Awards that you can buy and wear yourself.

Shirt Dress

Rihanna walked the red carpet wearing a vintage shirt dress by Thierry Mugler, a French designer and perfume creator. Shirt dresses have been on trend for a while now, and can be purchased from almost every store. Check out these shirt dresses from Forever 21.

Matching Sets

Zendaya walked the red carpet in a matching two piece top and skirt combination by the Calvin Klein Collection. Two piece sets are one of the newest fashion trends, but they definitely have potential to be one of the biggest trends of this summer. I think they are a hot summer trend because matching sets can be a crop top with shorts, pants, or skirts. Check out these matching sets from Boohoo.

Cutouts

Arianna Grande walked the red carpet wearing a neon blue Atelier Versace gown with cutouts. This trend has been popular for a while now, just like the shirt dress. The unique thing about this trend is that it keep popping up on different kind of pieces. Check out the cutouts on this dress and on this swim suit.

Metallic Color

This color trend has come and gone a lot of times throughout fashion history. This year, metallic colors has been popular in the form of clothes and sunglasses. Ciara rocked a silver metallic Philip Plein gown on the red carpet, and Seal nailed the metallic sunglasses trend on the Billboard red carpet. These sunglasses are similar to Seal’s that you can find at Urban Outfitters.

Plunge

Laverne Cox gracefully wore her custom made plunge dress made by Michael Costello. This is another trend that has been seen on the racks recently, but there are new variations of it popping up in different pieces of clothing. Check out this plunging jumper from Charlotte Russe.
