Best and Worst Dressed of Tony Awards 2015

Broadway’s Best gathered in their elegant attire on Sunday, June 7 for the 2015 Tony Awards in New York City. And while Broadway’s Best may have been best dressed on the red carpet, some didn’t quite make it to the top. The night was raving with elegant dresses and goofy costumes worn by co-hosts Kristin Chenoweth and Alan Cumming–and let’s not forget Cumming’s patterned blazers paired with shorts. More on that later.

All in all, everyone came wearing beautiful and unique dresses and handsome suits, some more than others. Here are some of the best and worst dressed of last night’s 69th annual Tony Awards.

Best Dressed of the Night

Vanessa Hudgens

The dress easily matched her style and presented a sort of innocence about Hudgens. Perhaps one of the best dressed of the night, this poppy dress is modest and elegant at the same time, with a full-lenth flowing skirt to the ground. Out of all the dresses at the awards, Hudgens wins in both uniqueness and elegance for a summer award show. Congrats, Vanessa.

Kendall Jenner

rs_634x1024-150607155536-634.Kendall-Jener-Tony-Awards.jl.060715Surprise, surprise! Sweet Kendall Jenner made a surprise appearance at the 2015 Tony Awards. While she’s not a Broadway star, that didn’t stop her from attending yet another red carpet event and looking absolutely radient, yet chic. She showed up the stars with a chic coral, long-sleeved, mini dress–decked out in sequins, of course. From the Calvin Klein Collection, this dress certainly screamed summertime and award season for Jenner. She looked modest in this age-appropriate dress.

Kristin Chenoweth

kristin-chenowethCo-host for the night, Kristin Chenoweth arrived in this sparkling gown, showing off her tiny frame once again. The shiny dress is a Zac Posen design, and I think she looked absolutely flawless. With a very sharp V-neck and slimming vertical patterning down the dress, Chenoweth was looking ready for the night and as beautiful as ever.

Worst Dressed of the Night

Alan Cumming

2015 Tony Awards - Red Carpet

Sorry, Alan Cumming. This look was not for you. Co-host Alan Cumming looked like he was ready for less than an awards show–perhaps the beach? Cumming arrived wearing a patterned blazer, which suited him well. What did not suit him (literally), was that the fact that he did not wear any suit pants with the blazer. Instead, Cumming arrived in shorts, and continued the trend throughout most of the show.

Annaleigh Ashford

I am not sure what Annaleigh Ashford was thinking when she tried on a lime green Zac Posen dress. To give the actress a little credit, the top half and sweetheart neckline certainly does her justic, but the bottom half could have used another thought. This dress has hints of Tinkerbell, and looks as though she is wearing a lime-hued blanket to the award show instead of a gown.

Carey Mulligan

The British actress arrived in a simple, yet almost too simple of a gown. This red velvet full-length dress comes close to falling out of the worst dressed category, however, it’s the high rounded neckline that makes this gown seem suffocating to even look at. It’s certainly not the worst, but also not the best. I give this one three stars.
