DIY Easter Decoration Ideas

Easter is coming up faster than it seems as March comes to a quick close, therefore it’s time to get decorating with those pastels. There are a variety of DIY decoration ideas to be made that are easy and fun! Here are few Easter decoration ideas that you can whip up before March ends.

String Eggs

What You’ll Need:

  • String- whatever colors your prefer
  • 1 cup of liquid starch
  • A half cup of flour
  • Water balloons, filled with air

Mix the liquid starch and flour in a blender and pour into a large bowl. Dip your string into the mixture, making sure to avoid knotting it. Fill up your water balloons with air, making them as large or as small as you would like. Wrap the goop covered string around and around the balloon, as many times as you want. The more overlapping portions and more times you go over the balloon, the more intricate your string egg will look. Let the eggs dry until fully dry. Carefully pop the balloon and remove it from the hardened string. If there are any crusty portions stuck to the string, use a safety pin to poke or shave it off. Either put your eggs in a dish or thread them with more string to create garland to be hung.

Paper Straw Easter Bunnies

Paper Straw Easter Bunnies -- The Silly Pearl

What You’ll Need:

  • A bunny template
  • Scissors
  • Paper Straws
  • Double Stick Tape
  • Painters Tape
  • Mini Cotton Balls
  • Hot Glue

Create a bunny shape template, either drawn or printed offline and cover with double stick tape. Take your paper straws and stick them onto the bunny, starting with the middle section between the ears (the straws will hang over the edge). Cut the excess straw portions off, following the curves of the bunny template. If the double stick tape doesn’t work well to hold the straws in place, use painters tape to keep them in place. After completing the cuts, peel off the bunny template and you now have a complete paper straw bunny, held together with the painters tape. Choose a backdrop, the above example uses a frame with a textured background. Cover the side without painters tape with hot glue and glue it to the backdrop. Let the glue dry and then carefully remove the painters tape. Hot glue the mini cotton balls on as tails and you have your bunnies!

Egg Garland

Spring mantel and the cutest egg garland that you can make! eclecticallyvintage.com

What You’ll Need:

  • Plastic Eggs
  • String/Ribbon

Make sure the plastic eggs you purchase come with the holes in both the bottom and top. Thread the string or ribbon through the holes of the bottom of the first egg, making sure to leave some string to tie into a pretty bow at the end. Thread the string through the top of the egg and close the egg. Repeat this until you have made your garland as long as desired. Hang it on your mantel or doorway for a festive, colorful piece of decoration.
