10 Ways to Get the Color of the Year into Your Life
I’m not sure how exactly Pantone was granted the gift of naming the color of the year, but they do a great job. Maybe I am the only one who eagerly awaits the unveiling of the new year’s color, but even if you’re not a fan, there are plenty of reasons to get Radiant Orchid into your decor. The color goes well with a number of pallets, and the vivid bright (without being overbearing) color is sure to inject some happiness into your life.
1. A Kiss of Color
With just slightly more of a purple hue than a berry lipstick, orchid is still a very wearable lip color. Pair an orchid lipstick or gloss with black liquid liner for a dramatic look that isn’t too over-the-top.
2. Go For the Eyes
Orchid is also a great shade for eye shadows and liners. Purple tones particularly play up brown and hazel colored eyes, but the color looks great on almost anyone. Visit Sephora’s Radiant Orchid collection for inspiration from your favorite makeup designers.
3. Throw a Party
Whether it’s a wedding, birthday, or any other sort of event, radiant orchid is a versatile
theme color. Bring out fresh orchids and pair with berry punches and macaroons for a sophisticated style.
4. Wear It
Unlike a lot of Pantone’s past picks, Orchid looks good on all skin tones. Whether it’s a dress, skirt, swimsuit, or killer pair of pumps, orchid needs to get in your wardrobe, stat.
5. Dye Your Hair
Sure, Lauren Conrad might have just done it for an April Fool’s Day prank, but plenty of fashionistas are taking the plunge and going purple with their hair.
6. Accent Furniture
Even if getting the couch reupholstered is a bit much, you can bring orchid into your home with an accent chair, lamp, table, or other less expensive piece of furniture.
7. Eat It
If you’re a baker, orchid is a lovely tone for macaroons, icing decorations, or even a springtime berry cake.
8. Grab a Bag
Purses are one accessory that’s meant to be on trend. Instead of going timeless for your latest clutch, grab a purse in radiant orchid for a pop of color any day of the week.
9. Rosy Carpet
Maybe you’re not like me and didn’t rush to the flooring store to price out radiant orchid carpeting in January (true story, just ask Carolina Flooring Services) but you can still incorporate this tone into your home with an accent rug that’s easy to change with the trends.
10. Give it Away
Even if you’re not a fan of the hue, someone in your life will be! Give a trendy touch to your gift giving with wrapping supplies and personal touches in radiant orchid.
