Highlight of the 2014 Grammys: 33 Newlywed Couples

The 56th Annual Grammy Awards were held at the Staples Center last night and it was quite the party! As usual, the music industry didn’t disappoint. The show included a sexy opening number from Beyonce and her man, Jay Z, multiple appearances from Pharrell’s fantastic hat, a Beatles reunion, and much more. Blue Ivy’s Gold Sippy Cup

Jay Z gave quite the acceptance speech after winning the best rap song collaboration with his song, “Holy Grail” featuring Justin Timberlake. He thanked Timberlake and song producer The-Dream and “all the typical things” before saying, “I want to thank God – I mean a little bit for this award, but mostly for that and all of the universe for conspiring and putting that beautiful light of a young lady in my life,” referencing to Beyonce. He then followed it up with, “And I want to tell Blue, ‘Look! Daddy’s got a gold sippy cup for you.'”

The country singer, who walked away with a Grammy for best country album and best country song, and her band lit-up the stage during her performance of “Follow Your Arrow.”

Beatles Performance

The Beatles’ Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr performed together for the first time since 2009. The two remaining living members of the group took the stage after Julie Roberts announced the band’s 2014 Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award.

Newlywed Bliss

The much buzzed about marriage ceremony for 33 couples of all sexual orientations and ages took place during Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “Same Love” performance followed by Madonna singing her hit, “Open Your Heart.” The weddings were officiated by Queen Latifah, who was sworn in as a temporary commissioner by the state of California on Sunday, making all of the marriages legal.
